The true story behind it
This one comes from a night I won’t forget. When our son was about a year old, he ran a very high fever for two days, and late one night his little body turned so hot that we called his doctor, who lived nearly forty kilometers away. She told us to get him to the hospital right away. I still remember carrying him in for a scan; as I lifted off his shirt he whispered, ‘Daddy, it’s so cold, I’m shivering, it’s hard for me.’ My wife cried, and her mother and younger sister stayed close with us through the whole night. Another doctor came, gave him treatment, and within about a day he was well again. I shaped that fear and relief into Rustle’s story: a father fox whose cubs are too sick to recover, searching for the Grand Fox and the medicine that can heal them. The Grand Fox is really our son’s doctor, and the cure, with a little magic, is the recovery we were so thankful for.
What happens in the story
Rustle the fox is desperate: his cubs are too sick to stand, and the only cure lies with the Grand Fox, deep in the Misty Mountain Forest along a path that is not safe. Kitty and Dino set off with him at once. They part a rushing river, light a way through thick fog with glowing mushrooms, climb a steep cliff on rock steps and vines, and help coax open the healing golden flower. A warm adventure about teamwork, kindness and never giving up.
