The true story behind it
The real story behind this one is tender. My mother was bedridden for nearly a year, and we travelled often between Nittambuwa and Kandy to be with her. One evening she took a bad turn, shivering, and the emergency medicine her doctor had prescribed wasn’t in the house. We split up and searched everywhere, turning the place upside down, before rushing to the pharmacy. My young son wanted to help and stayed right beside me the whole time. His worry for his grandmother, and how badly he wanted her to be well, stayed with me. I reshaped that memory into a gentler, magical form: a guardian snake searching for a healing gem to help the grandfather he loves. In our folklore, snakes are keepers of hidden gems and well-being, so it felt right.
What happens in the story
Slither the snake arrives with a worry close to his heart: his grandfather is very old, and only the family’s healing diamond, hidden in the caves past the Misty Rocks, can help him. Kitty and Dino set off with him at once. They clear the fog, light the dark, and solve the old riddle of water, earth and fire to reach the gem, then make a brave dash as the cave begins to crumble. A warm adventure about determination, courage and caring for the people you love.
