The true story behind it
My father-in-law once bought a rooster from a farm where it was about to be killed, just so it could live. When my son heard how the rooster was saved, it sparked a real conversation between us, about how every living thing, animal or tree, deserves a chance at life. So I wrote Gordon to help him hold onto that simple idea: that kindness reaches every creature.
What happens in the story
Gordon the rooster needs a helping hand, and Kitty and Dino step in. Along the way the story gently makes its case, that every living thing is worth caring for. Warm, simple, and kind.

Gordon’s garden plants come to life and wander off in every direction, and he is heartbroken because he knew every one of them by name. Kitty and Dino build a plant playground so joyful the wandering plants drift back on their own.
The real Gordon was a rooster my father-in-law bought from a farm where it was about to be killed, purely so it could go on living. Hearing that story turned into a long conversation with my son about how every living thing deserves a chance.
