What happens in the story

A long drought has dried up the stream and left Penny the rat’s vegetable garden wilting in the heat. Kitty draws hidden water up from deep underground while Dino cools the air, and together they build a shady bamboo dome, heal the droopy carrots and radishes, and dig little channels so water always reaches the roots. By sunset the garden is green and growing again. Clever thinking and a few helping hands bring the whole garden back to life.
